Sometimes I wonder, are these dressing things only for salads? Trust me it is the most intelligent yet most mysterious trick that has been invented in culinary art. That’s what I believe. And, I have personally seen multiple cuisines prep dressings to enhance the taste of their boring foods (not only salads but sometimes fruits too). I will definitely share those recipes. History says almost 2000 years back, Babylonians started using oil as a dressing base. This is the most ancient documentation of dressing. Wow! Not so new. It must be. This technique has roamed around the globe mixing multiple things in between and creating different types of salad dressings. The classic creamy French dressing recipe is one of them, and very prominent I must say.
Let’s see how you too can prepare it for your salad (Best teamed up with the famous Cobb Salad):
Ingredients:
Olive oil – ½ Cup
Red wine vinegar – ¼ Cup
Ketchup – 2 Tablespoons
Honey/Sugar – 1 Tablespoon
Dijon mustard – 1 Teaspoon
Garlic clove – 1 No. (minced)
Salt – To taste
Black pepper – to taste
Procedure:
Combine the ingredients:
Take a mixing bowl or a glass jar. Take all the ingredients without salt and pepper together; the olive oil, red wine vinegar, ketchup, honey/sugar, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic. Whisk until these combine well.
Seasoning:
Season the mixture with salt and pepper according to taste.
Emulsify:
Use Blender to blend all the ingredients if you prefer a smoother creamy French dressing recipe. Else, rigorous whisking for a while is enough to make the ingredients well absorbed.
Serve:
Prepare your creamy French dressing recipe right before you want to serve your salad. Nothing beats a fresh salad dressing in taste. You may store it too. No problem. Just store it in the fridge and definitely in a sealed glass container. If you are following this recipe, you may store it for a week or so. Remember to shake or stir well before using if stored.
