It was an evening in the 1930s. Robert Cobb, a restaurant owner from Hollywood entered his kitchen to grab something. He got some leftovers and that was sufficient to create a path-breaking recipe. He combined lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, chicken breast, bacon, and blue cheese all together and dressed it all with classic French dressing. Voila! Cobb salad was born. It’s a classic recipe that has been cherished and demanded year after year without losing its same old charm. Today, I thought of preparing crispy chicken cobb salad which is immensely tasty as it should be. One platter is sufficient for two people.
Let’s see how you too can make it for lunch.
Ingredients:
For Crispy Chicken:
Chicken breast – 2 Nos.
Egg white- 1 No.
Black pepper powder – 1 Teaspoon
Flour – 2 Tablespoon
Corn starch – 1 Tablespoon
Oil – To fry
Salt – To taste
For Bacon Poppers:
Bacon – 4 strips
Salt – To taste
Black pepper powder – 1 Teaspoon
Oil – to fry
For the Salad Base:
Romaine lettuce – 4 Cups (chopped)
Cherry tomatoes – 1 Cup (cut into halves)
Avocado – 1 No. (Diced)
Blue cheese – ½ Cup
Hard-boiled eggs – 2 Nos. (peeled and sliced)
Procedure:
Prepare the chicken:
Take the chicken breasts. Hammer a bit. Now marinate these with black pepper powder, salt, egg white, flour, and cornstarch. Keep aside for half an hour.
Take a frying pan and heat the oil on medium to low flame.
Now fry the chicken breasts. Let both sides be golden brown and keep the chicken juicy inside. The moderately low flame will not burn the chicken while keeping it juicy from the inside. Your chicken would be well-cooked.
Take the crispy chicken and chop it the way you want to have it.
Prepare the bacon:
Take the bacon strips. Cut into popping-sized pieces. Sprinkle black pepper powder and salt.
Heat oil in a pan.
Now fry it on medium to low flame. Let them be cooked completely, from inside and outside.
Transfer it to a bowl.
Assemble the salad:
Take a large flat platter. Put the chopped lettuce as a base.
Now arrange the ingredients one by one in a row over the lettuce; the tomatoes, avocado pieces, crumbled blue cheese, bacon pieces, chopped chicken breast, and hard-boiled egg slices.
Well, this is not hard and fast that you should serve in this manner only. You may mix and serve. The choice is yours. The taste of the crispy chicken cobb salad will not decrease by this.
Serve:
Drizzle some classic French salad dressing over your crispy chicken cobb salad, or you may serve it with a separate cup of dressing. Let your people savor it according to their taste.
