How to ripen avocado?

I was about to make Greek Salad for my lunch, but the avocado was a mess. It’s as hard as a rock. So disappointing!  Wish I could spell magic, but cooking is a long-term procedure that starts with the appropriate selection of basic ingredients. It’s all my fault. I should have checked before. I know there must be times when you have wondered how to ripen avocado in an instant. I can relate. Thankfully I knew some techniques, so could save my lunch menu.

Let’s see how you too can do so.

 

Ripen Avocado in Room Temperature:

Follow this method if you have some time. Just keep the avocados at room temperature for a couple of days. Check it daily. Just press near the stem. If it ripens, it will yield slightly.

 

Ripen Avocado in a Paper Bag:

Speed up the ripening process of an avocado by keeping it in a paper bag. The fruits tend to release ethylene gas; which will pace up the process. Within 1 to 3 days you will get to see your avocado ripen.

 

Ripen Avocado in Oven:

I opted for this method today. You too can opt for this process. Just wrap the avocado in foil and bake it at 930 C for 15 minutes max. Let it cool down and then use it. This process obviously is not the best process for producing the best texture, but it works instantly.

 

Ripen Avocado in Microwave:

There is another quick-fix method if you are wondering how to ripen avocado in an instant. Just cut the avocado in halves. Remove its pit. Microwave it at a high temperature for 30 seconds. Then check it. Repeat the process for a couple of intervals until it reaches the desired softness. Well, this process too can affect the taste and texture of the fruit; but it too works in a blink.

 

Storing:

You may store the ripened avocado in the fridge if you are not using it instantly. This will slow down the further ripening process.
