How to store strawberries

How to Store Strawberries for a Long Time?

I love strawberries. I just love them. Their tangy sweet taste lingers long on the taste-buds. I just love that feeling. Yummm!! But, the question arises, how to store strawberries for a longer while. Well, here are some tips on how to store strawberries.

Refrigeration:

The best place to store strawberries is your fridge. No need to wash them while storing. Take a paper towel-lined tray, place them in a single layer on it. Your strawberries will not catch mold growth.

Avoid Moisture:

If you are storing strawberries in a container, make sure the container must have ventilation holes. You may cover them by breathable materials like paper towel.

 Washing:

Washing the strawberries is only allowed when you’re going to eat ’em. As you know, excess moisture can lead to mold growth, and you surely don’t want it. Rinse them under a gentle stream of water. Pat dry with paper towel. And there you go! Savor the taste.

Remove Spoiled Berries:

Keep a good eye on your strawberries. If you see any sign of mold growth or overly soften berries, just remove them from the store. This is how you may be able to avoid spoilage of other ones.

Freezing:

Well, it’s an optional process. But if you really want to store them in a freezer you should hull them first. Then spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze them until solid. Then pack them in a freezer bag or in an airtight container. Try to remove air as much as you can from the container. Frozen strawberries are great for smoothies and baking. But, don’t expect the freshness stay intact. It will surely get changed when thawed.

Conclusion

This is how I store my strawberries. As I stay in a topical country, strawberries are only available in winters. But never mind, I freeze them when they are in the market, and use them afterwards. Hope you got an idea on how to store strawberries.
