I was literally bored with the same old fried fish recipes. I wanted to have something simple yet lip-smacking good. A tandoori marinade could make magic, but I didn’t have time for an elaborate marination process. So, I opted for this quick and instant Tandoori Masala Fish Fry recipe.
Let’s see how you too can prepare this recipe in your kitchen.
Ingredients:
Fish – 500 g (big size pieces)
Turmeric powder – ½ Teaspoon
Black pepper powder – ½ Teaspoon
Lemon juice – 1 Teaspoon
Salt – ½ Teaspoon
Ginger garlic paste – 1 Teaspoon
Red chili powder – ½ Teaspoon
Cumin powder – ½ Teaspoon
Coriander powder – ½ Teaspoon
Garam masala powder – ½ Teaspoon
Kasoori methi – 1 Teaspoon
Corn starch – 1 Teaspoon
Gram flour – 1 Teaspoon
Baking soda – ¼ Teaspoon
Mustard oil – 1 Teaspoon + adequate to shallow fry the fish
Procedure:
The marination:
Take the fish in a bowl. Clean thoroughly and pat it dry.
Add turmeric powder, black pepper powder, salt, and lemon juice.
Marinate it well and keep it aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
Prepare the tandoori masala:
Take a smaller bowl.
Take ginger garlic paste in it followed by red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, kasoori methi, corn starch, gram flour, and mustard oil.
Add some drops of water.
Mix these well to form a uniform thick paste which would be coated over the fish.
Now marinate the fish with this thick paste and the baking soda. The baking soda will keep the fish juicy from inside.
Keep it aside for 15 minutes.
Frying:
Take a frying pan and heat mustard oil.
Keep the flame in between medium to high.
Fry the fish pieces till they become crispy and golden brown from the outside.
Transfer it to an absorbent paper towel to soak the excess oil.
Serve hot with Kebab Chutney.
