There is a small tea junction at my native place. Whenever I visit my place, I take a stroll up to this joint. That smoky aroma from the freshly made smoked coffee just takes away my heart. It is called Tandoori Coffee too, at least we, the local people call it by that name. The specialty lies in the process.
Let’s see how you too can prepare this in your kitchen.
Ingredients:
Milk – 1 Cup
Water – ¼ Cup
Sugar – 3 Teaspoons
Coffee powder – 3 Teaspoons
Procedure:
Prepare the coffee:
Take a pot.
Add milk to the water and bring it to a boil.
Add sugar and coffee powder.
Now bring it to a good boil.
You may adjust the coffee powder and the sugar as per your taste.
Keep the coffee on low flame.
Prepare the tandoor pot:
Take an earthen pot (matka), and heat it on the direct flame until it gets properly hot from every side.
Now check whether the coffee is made or not.
Now place the matka on a broad surface pot.
Prepare the Tandoori coffee:
Pour the entire coffee into the earthen pot.
The coffee will ooze out.
And that’s the symbol that your tandoor was perfectly heated from all sides.
Keep it there for 5 to 10 seconds.
This is the resting time for the coffee to absorb the smoky flavor.
Now bring out the smoked coffee from the pot and transfer it to the broad surface pot.
And then transfer it to an earthen pot or your favorite coffee cup.
Serve.
This recipe serves 2 cups of coffee.
Conclusion:
Try something different. Turn your ages-old coffee into hot and happening smoked coffee aka Tandoor coffee. The fresh aroma of the coffee, a detective novel may be, and pouring rain outside my window, I can’t imagine more to cherish my coffee best.
Just enjoy!
